Choose the Right Seal
Six Key Decisions
Choose the right seal type for the equipment or fixture you want to seal
Look carefully at the length, diameter, and available space to lock and check the seal. Also consider the environment and duration of use.
Use the Right Strength Seal
Consider the strength of the seal, and how strong it should be to prevent accidental breaking, and how strong it should be to prevent cutting or removal. Also, is the seal strong enough to prevent unauthorized opening? Match the cost with the risk of loss if the seal is broken. Generally, the stronger the seal, the higher the cost.
Use a Manageable Closure System
The closure method of the seal should be matched to the facility and the capabilities of the personnel who will apply and check the seal. If special tools are required to close or read the seal, consider both the cost and availability of the tools. Complex systems are ineffective without adequate equipment and trained personnel.
The material should be appropriate for the conditions in which the seal will be used
. Consider climate, corrosion, physical stress, length of use, and handling and storage conditions. We offer plastics and metals in a variety of strength classes.
Make sure the seal can hold all the information needed.
The information may consist of just a serial number or a few letters. Or you may need a lot of information. Seals can display information such as logos, product codes, barcodes, source and destination indicators, and load or content data.
