Barrier seals including bolt and cable seals are an effective means for businesses to protect goods during transport and storage. To help our customers choose the right seal, here are some details:-
Bolt seals and cable seals share common features.
Both seals provide additional security. They also protect against theft. They require tools to open and are often used by transport companies to protect goods during transport. Both offer a variety of customisation options. For example, both bolt and cable seals can be used to seal the rear doors of trucks and containers.
Differences
Bolt seals, such as our Bolt Seal I, are less flexible as they require the holes to be connected together and at a certain distance from each other. Cable seals, such as our Cable Seal 2.5, have a longer cable length. Therefore, the Cable Seal 2.5 is ideal for locking holes that are not aligned. You can pass the cable through multiple loop points before securing the seal. Our cable seals have a locking length of 300 mm.
Choosing the right seal
The type of seal you need depends on the application and requirements. Based on the above example, while most bolt seals meet C-TPAT certification standards for international shipping, only specific cable seals meet these certification standards. Cable seals are particularly useful for domestic and interstate shipping when the holes in the shipping container do not match or flexibility is required to close.
The Bolt Seal I meets C-TPAT certification standards and is classified as a high security seal with a breaking strength of 1750KGs. It also has a metal anti-rotation feature. This is designed to deter specific types of tampering.
